School Holidays

Here is a downloadable list of the latest school holiday dates and confirmed PD days for 2023-2024.

  • School holidays and PD days 2025 – 2026

Alternatively, please visit the Durham County Council website to view or download the school holidays dates for this academic year and next year for all community schools, special schools and voluntary controlled schools. Please note that voluntary aided (church) schools, foundation schools and academies may have set different dates and you should check with the school or academy to confirm their arrangements or view the PDF for schools not following the standard term and holiday dates.  The dates of the school year vary annually and parents are advised to check to ensure family holidays are not booked in term time. Durham County Council sets holiday times.  The list is published annually on their website and copies can be obtained from school.

School Holidays During Term Time

The Government amended regulations for taking holidays in term time and these new regulations came into effect from September 2013.

Headteachers have the discretion to grant leave, but they should only do so in exceptional circumstances. If a headteacher grants a leave request, it will be for them to determine the length of time that the child can be away from school. This leave is unlikely, however, to be granted for the purposes of a family holiday.  Parents can be fined for taking their child on holiday during term time without consent from the school.

Please contact the school if you wish to discuss this with the Headteacher.

Arriving on time:

Children are expected to arrive on time to school each day to begin their learning.  Children can come to school each day from 8am for our Wraparound or at 8.40am for a free breakfast.  We work with parents to ensure that children are brought in on time so they can access all their curriculum and be settled and ready to learn with their friends each day.  We employ our PSA Mrs Donnelly to support families.

School Day:

School Times:

  • Gates open from 8.40am so all children can have a free breakfast in their classroom
  • 08:50 – 10:20 first session
  • 10:20 – 10:35 morning break
  • 10:35 – 12:15 second session (11:45 for infants)
  • 12:15 – 13:15 Junior lunchtime
  • 11:45 – 13:15 Infant lunchtime
  • 13:15 – 15:15 third session

School gates open at 8.40am and children can enter their classroom to have a free daily breakfast.  This is provided for our school through the Greggs Foundation and is managed by our school staff.  For children who don’t wish to have a breakfast in school, our gates remain open at 8.50am for children to enter school. Please note that children are not permitted into school before this time and are encouraged to leave the school yard promptly at the end of the day when school staff are available to supervise for a period of 10 minutes. Any pupils not collected by 3.25pm are taken to the school office where parents will be contacted.

We also offer Wraparound care each day from 8am and this is charged at £1 per day, payable on ParentPay and all parents get a log in for this system.

Children can stay for our after school Wraparound care each day from 3.15pm to 5.00pm (£6 per sessions) or until 6.00pm (£8 per session) and this is booked on ParentPay.
